We are seeking to hire a new part-time employee to join the L/L Research team to support the organization’s growing needs, help us fulfill our mission, and expand and improve our services in exciting ways (including helping us to construct that half-built spaceship in the garage).
¶The Position – “Operations Specialist”*
This is primarily a remote, work-from-home position, but will require travel (expenses paid) for the coordination of L/L Research events—around three annual in-person gatherings with perhaps as many online, with the potential to hold more in time.
*The title is mostly a formality. L/L Research has a very small workforce—this will be the fourth official employee—and we all wear many hats. (You can also call yourself “Chief Bigfoot Researcher,” “The Administrator Archetype,” or “Assistant to the Regional Manager” if you want.)
¶Primary duties
-
Take lead in managing workshops and events both online and in-person, from planning, execution, and follow-up. L/L Research holds few events at the moment, virtually all of which have been on pause during the pandemic, but we hope to expand our offerings with this new position once public health concerns alleviate.
-
Coordinate volunteers to help with various projects and services where volunteer efforts can be most effective.
-
Various administrative tasks, such as responding to emails, answering phone calls, etc.
-
Aid in a wide variety of projects in versatile and unique ways.
-
Forward all funny memes you find to the team in a professional and timely manner.
-
Note: The work to accomplish at L/L Research is consistently demanding and mentally intensive, and there is always much to do. A majority of all work is done at the computer, so expect most of your day will be spent at the keyboard working and communicating within the digital world. It consists of a large variety of sometimes difficult, sometimes tedious, sometimes fun tasks. The job is naturally quite challenging, and it can be wearying, but it also very rewarding and joyful, especially being of service to others, and especially when you get to see the impact that this mission has.
